Excursion to Weilburg and the Terracotta Army
On Saturday, October 29th a nicely mixed ladies' group and one girl went to Weilburg. The first stop of our excursion was the "Terracotta Army".
All the pieces of the exhibition are replicas because the archaeological findings belong to the UNESCO world cultural heritage and are not allowed to leave the country of China.
At 11 a.m. our group watched a movie about the historical background of the first Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang Di, his conquests, standardisation of measurements and symbols, building activities (the order of a mausoleum as well as the baked clay figures).
At 11 a.m. our group watched a movie about the historical background of the first Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang Di, his conquests, standardisation of measurements and symbols, building activities (the order of a mausoleum as well as the baked clay figures).
The movie revealed that the young emperor must have lived in an expectation of a life after earthly life and because out of this reason the Terracotta Army came into existence. All ladies and our girl were richly blessed by this exhibition. Afterwards we all drove into the centre of Weilburg. There we had a lunch break, strolled through the beautiful town and had a look at the castle and the garden belonging to it. Everyone enjoyed the fellowship while watching the surroundings, exchanging one to another and walking arm-in-arm through Weilburg. Late in the afternoon we drove home still enjoying our nice autumn day. |

Men's breakfast and opticpark
On Saturday, October 29th several men of RVCCM met to spend the morning together in Wetzlar. We startet with a breakfast round in the Dom-Café Wetzlar, where in cheerful gathering Dieter K. first proclaimed the motto for the day:
" Joh 8:12 Then Jesus spoke again to them, saying, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.."
Before we than went to explore the opticpark we first strengthened our body with some good food.
The following stroll along the experiments of the opticpark gave us some interesting insights into the nature of light and how easily the human eye can be deceived. Some mirrors help us to get a different view on our body and figure..
We learned new things about light refraction, light that bends around a curve and light that is completely looped around (keyword prisma).
Other experiments showed very clearly that depending on the perspective the world can look very differently.
The beautiful autumn weather and the wonderful scenery of the old town of Wetzlar helped making this time together very uplifting and lead to most of us staying until early afternoon before heading back home. |
